Rocky Mountain National Park License Plate

The Conservancy administers the official Rocky Mountain National Park Group Special License Plate, which is available to Colorado-registered vehicle owners. It does not replace the standard Colorado state license plate but is a voluntary fundraising option through the State of Colorado’s Group Special Plate program.

Please Note: It can take up to 3 business days to receive your PIN that is required by the DMV to order your license plate.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Specialty License Plates

100% of your license plate donation ($50 minimum) supports conservation and educational programs in Rocky Mountain National Park. Since 2017, license plate donations have specifically helped fund the High School Leadership Corps, a youth program that fosters leadership, environmental stewardship, and hands-on conservation experience.

PINs are assigned within 3 business days of your donation. You’ll receive your PIN by email.

If you don’t see it after 3 business days, please check your spam/junk folder. If it’s still missing, please reach out to us at 970-586-0108 or by simply replying to the automated donation confirmation email you received at the time of your gift.

Take your PIN to your local Colorado DMV office in person. The DMV will ask for your PIN, assess the one-time specialty plate fee (plus your regular registration fees), and issue your plate. You can also use your PIN to renew your plates online through mydmv.colorado.gov

No. Membership dues or gifts to other funds do not qualify for the license plate program. Only a donation made directly to the Rocky Mountain Conservancy’s license plate program will generate the certificate required by the DMV.

To receive a Rocky Mountain Conservancy specialty license plate, you must make a minimum $50 donation to the Conservancy’s license plate program.

After your donation, you’ll receive a certificate from us that you bring to your county DMV office to request the plate.

At the DMV you’ll pay:

  • A one-time $50 specialty plate fee (assessed by the state of Colorado).
  • Standard registration fees and taxes (these vary by vehicle and county).
  • If you choose a personalized version, there’s an additional $60-$80 one-time personalization fee and a $25 annual personalization renewal fee.

Your donation and DMV fees are separate. Your donation goes directly to support Rocky Mountain National Park.

Visit the Colorado DMV Group Special License Plates page for the best up-to-date information.

Enter the name of the primary lessee exactly as it appears on your lease agreement or vehicle registration. This ensures your PIN record matches DMV records and allows your specialty plate to be processed correctly.

If you lose your PIN, please contact us and we’ll be happy to resend it. You can reach us by calling 970-586-0108 or by replying to the automated donation confirmation email you received at the time of your gift.

PINs are processed during normal business hours. If you contact us outside of business hours or on a weekend, your request will be handled on the next business day.
