Look for a white van with Rocky Mountain Conservancy Logos on the east side of the building. \nWhat to Bring: \n\nBackpack large enough to fit the following items\nBag lunch\nWarm layers (weather depending)\nWaterproof layer(s)\nWater (2 liters recommended)\nSunscreen/ sunglasses\nSturdy tennis shoes or hiking boots\n\nWeather: \nRocky Mountain Conservancy reserves the right to change the program location due to trail and weather conditions at any time. \nOur programs proceed rain or shine. Your physical effort directly translates into healthier ecosystems and biodiversity that will help protect the park for generations to come. \nAlongside park staff\, you’ll learn to identify invasive species and master proper removal techniques\, skills you can carry with you long after the day ends. Expect a full\, active day outdoors on varied terrain\, but know that every plant pulled is a genuine\, measurable difference made for the landscape you’re helping protect. \nThis is demanding\, rewarding work\, and it matters. Be part of the effort to preserve the natural beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park. Sign up today! \nThere is no fee to participate in this volunteer work day. \nWhat to Expect:\nMinimum age: 18 years \nTime: 9:00am – 3:00pm. SUMMARY:Habitat Heroes Volunteer Day on August 28
DESCRIPTION:Be a hero in the battle against invasive species\, and help to preserve Rocky’s native plants!\n\n\n\n\nRocky Mountain National Park needs your help! Join us this summer for a hands-on day\, removing invasive plant species to help restore the park’s native vegetation. \nInvasive plants are a persistent threat in RMNP\, crowding out native species and disrupting the wildlife that depends on them for food and habitat. The most effective tool we have against them? People willing to get their hands dirty! SUMMARY:Wild Ideas: The Biomimicry of Our Public Waters and Wildlands
DESCRIPTION:Join our 2026 Scholar In Residence\, Adelheid Fischer\, for this engaging presentation on what we can learn from Nature’s design solutions.\n\n\n\n\nNature has already solved many of the challenges we face—controlling pathogens\, conserving water\, managing temperature extremes or building structures that are strong and durable with a minimum amount of material. In the U.S.\, there is no greater compilation of solutions than the biodiversity in our public waters and wildlands. Writer and educator Adelheid Fischer explores how our nation’s forests and grasslands\, tundras and lakes\, deserts and oceans can serve as a creative commons of ideas for generating innovative designs and strategies. We hope to see you there! \nAdelheid Fischer is an educator and literary nonfiction writer who focuses on natural history\, ecology and the intersections of nature and culture. She is affiliate faculty and an Affiliate Global Futures Scholar at Arizona State University. She is currently serving as Rocky Mountain Conservancy’s 2026 Scholar in Residence at Rocky Mountain National Park. \nWhen: Saturday\, September 12\, 2026 at 1:00pm \nWhere: Beaver Meadows Visitor Center auditorium\, Estes Park\, CO \nThis program is free and open to the public. Advance registration helps us ensure adequate seating. Registered participants will receive an email reminder two days before the program.

We respond to areas that have been degraded by construction\, human use\, or severe natural events. Established in the 1980s and guided by a management plan\, our program focuses on using locally collected native plant materials to ensure ecological integrity. \nJoin us and be part of preserving the natural beauty of the park for future generations! \nWhat to Expect: \nVolunteers will be reseeding small fire scars created during pile burning for fuels reduction. Locations will include Deer Mountain and Lily Lake\, and work occurs in exposed conditions (full sun\, rain\, wind). Reseeding involves hiking short distances up to several miles\, scarifying soil (raking)\, hand seeding at specific rates\, and gathering and spreading on-site mulch material. \nDate: This project has 4 sessions: Sept. 16 (full)\, Sept. 22\, Oct. 7 (full)\, Oct. 14. Choose one or more! \nTime: 9:00am – 3:00pm. Volunteers should plan to stay for the full duration of this event. \nWho: This volunteer event is open to participants ages 18 and over. \nParking/meeting location: Please meet in the outdoor plaza in front of the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. Volunteers will be driven into the park via a shuttle. \nWork sites: Deer Mountain and Lily Lake. Sites may change depending on conditions. \nNearest bathroom: Bathrooms may be inaccessible for most of the event period. Be prepared to answer nature’s call in nature. \nWhat to bring: Layers for rapidly changing weather\, rain gear\, sun protection (sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses)\, long sleeve shirt and long pants\, sturdy close-toed shoes\, lunch and snacks\, at least 2 liters of water per person\, gloves (if you prefer your own)\, and a day pack to hold everything. \n\n\nReady to sign up?\n\n\n \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Native Plant Reseeding Volunteer Day
DESCRIPTION:Join us on a native plant seeding project to help restore plant communities and habitat after fire!\n\n\n\n\nProject Description: \nThis fall\, you can make a meaningful contribution to RMNP’s biodiversity while gaining experience in conservation practices! \nThe Vegetation Program at Rocky Mountain National Park restores disturbed sites throughout the park to preserve native vegetation\, protect our soils\, and prevent the spread of invasives species. Please contact the park’s volunteer office at ROMO_volunteer@nps.gov or 970-586-1330.

SUMMARY:Greenhouse Volunteer Day: Willow Up-potting
DESCRIPTION:Work alongside Rocky Mountain National Park greenhouse staff to up-pot willows in our plant nursery for future wetland restoration projects!\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Description: \nThe RMNP vegetation crew works in many ways to restore degraded landscapes – one of these ways is propagating and growing plants in our greenhouse and nursery which will be used in restoration projects throughout the park. For this volunteer day\, you will be helping plant willow stakes in “cone-tainers” so they can grow roots and thrive in their future habitat! \nDates (weather permitting): Thursday\, September 17\, 2026 or Wednesday\, September 23\, 2026. Choose your preferred date. \nTime: 8:30am – 3:30pm. Volunteers should plan to stay for the full time period. \nWhere to Meet: We will meet in the outdoor plaza in front of Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. From there we will walk to the greenhouse about ¼ mile away down a paved path on a gentle to moderate hillside. The greenhouse is located at an elevation of around 7\,600 ft. \nWhat to Expect: \nTasks include using hand clippers to cut willows into stakes\, planting stakes in soil\, loading/moving wheelbarrows of soil\, and lifting heavy trays. These tasks will be divided among volunteers and staff – you will not have to do them all. \nExpect the unexpected with fall weather in the mountains – it could be sunny\, windy\, hot\, cold\, snowing\, and/or raining in the same day\, so prepare accordingly. \nWater will be available onsite for refills. Restrooms are a short walk away in the natural resources building. \nWhat’s Provided: Work gloves\, sunscreen\, water for refills\, electrolyte mix\, kneeling pads \nWhat to Bring: Layers\, rain gear\, sun protection (sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses)\, gloves (if you prefer your own)\, day pack\, bag lunch and snacks\, water. \nMinimum age: 18 years \n\n\nReady to sign up?\n\n\n \nQuestions?
