SUMMARY:Volunteer to Protect Native Ecosystems on June 25
DESCRIPTION:Rocky Mountain National Park needs your help!\nJoin us this summer for a hands-on day\, removing invasive plant species to help restore the park’s native vegetation. \nInvasive plants are a persistent threat in RMNP\, crowding out native species and disrupting the wildlife that depends on them for food and habitat. The most effective tool we have against them? People willing to get their hands dirty! Your physical effort directly translates into healthier ecosystems and biodiversity that will help protect the park for generations to come. \nAlongside park staff\, you’ll learn to identify invasive species and master proper removal techniques\, skills you can carry with you long after the day ends. Expect a full\, active day outdoors on varied terrain\, but know that every plant pulled is a genuine\, measurable difference made for the landscape you’re helping protect. \nThis is demanding\, rewarding work\, and it matters. Be part of the effort to preserve the natural beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park. Sign up today! \nThere is no fee to participate in this volunteer work day. \nWhat to Expect:\nMinimum age: 18 years \nTime: 9:00am – 3:00pm. Volunteers should plan to stay for the full duration of this event. \nParking/meeting location: Please meet in the outdoor plaza in front of the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. Volunteers will be driven into the park via shuttle vans. \nWork site: Sites to be determined based on conditions. \nNearest bathroom: Bathrooms may be inaccessible for most of the event period. Be prepared to answer nature’s call in nature. \nWhat to bring: Layers for rapidly changing weather\, rain gear\, sun protection (sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses)\, long sleeve shirt and long pants\, sturdy close-toed shoes\, lunch and snacks\, at least 2 liters of water per person\, gloves (if you prefer your own)\, and a day pack to hold everything. \nPhysical expectations: Manual removal of invasive species is moderately strenuous\, with the entire workday spent on-foot\, and potentially walking distances that can add up to several miles in montane meadows\, forests\, and other front country locations. Plant removal will utilize hand tools such as shovels and pruners to dig out plants and remove seed heads. Participants should expect to be out for the entire time in variable weather conditions\, from hot temperatures in direct sunlight to cold and windy conditions. Events may be cancelled or shortened if weather conditions become a risk to human health and safety. Please be prepared with a day pack containing everything you will need for the day. \nReady to join us?\n\n\n\n \nQuestions? Please contact the park’s volunteer office at ROMO_volunteer@nps.gov or 970-586-1330.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a women’s hike to Bridal Veil Falls! The hike will take you to a less traveled part of Rocky Mountain National Park. We will begin at Cow Creek Trailhead and hike past the historic McGraw Ranch. The trail follows Cow Creek\, giving you glimpses at other smaller cascades along the way to Bridal Veil. SUMMARY:Bettie Course: Via Ferrata
DESCRIPTION:Try something new and reach new heights with a great community of women!\n\n\n\nExperience climbing the Via Ferrata with a supportive and fun group of women! \nThe Via Ferrata is a unique experience that falls somewhere between scrambling and technical rock climbing\, akin to a ropes course up a cliff. While it is physically demanding\, the system of cables and ladders allows even non-experienced climbers to ascend the 600 foot tall cliff. All you need is good fitness and a passing ability to deal with heights. \nParticipants\, accompanied by KMAC guides\, are secured to the system of anchored steel cables as they ascend using natural rock features\, ladders\, and steel steps. While you ascend\, you’ll enjoy stunning vistas of Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding valley typically accessible only to rock climbers! \nWho: This program is intended for women ages 16 and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nProgram level & description: Moderate – This program is most appropriate for those with some hiking experience. Expect to hike about a mile to the base of the Via Ferrata. The Peregrine Arete begins in a rocky gully on the side of the cliff. It traverses in and quickly gains elevation and exposure as the ground drops away. By design\, the most physically demanding moves are at the very beginning to give an idea of what is to come. Participants then move into the “Hinterstoisser Traverse\,” a wildly exposed section that gets hearts racing. After a fun steeper section participants arrive at one of the best views in the world for a snack break. After a break\, participants will start the second half\, the Peregrine Arete. This half isn’t as physically challenging\, but it does offer amazing views in all directions as it follows the crest of the ridge\, as high above the valley as it gets\, all the way to the summit! No previous rock climbing experience is necessary to ascend the Via Ferrata. \nTransportation will be in a 15-passenger van with bench seats and a narrow aisle that requires stepping up to enter. \nUnfortunately\, due to limitations on the lanyard safety equipment that connects you to the Via Ferrata system\, we cannot accept guests over 265 lbs. \nWhen: Sunday\, June 14\, 2026 from 9:00am to 2:00pm \nWhere: Meet at the KMAC Office (1230 Big Thompson Ave\, Estes Park\, CO 80517). We will drive together in Conservancy vehicles to the trailhead. \nWhats Included: \n\nGuides\nHarness\nHelmet\nVia Ferrata Lanyard\n\nWhat to Bring: \n\nSmall backpack\nlunch\n2 liters of water\nRain jacket\nLayers for changing weather\nSunscreen\, sunglasses\, and hat\n\n  \n\n\n\n  \nRefund Policy: \nCancellations made more than 30 days prior to the start of the course are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made fewer than 30 days in advance are not eligible for a refund. \nOur programs proceed rain or shine\, and participants should be prepared for inclement weather. However\, should we decide to cancel a program due to unsafe weather or emergency conditions\, we will notify participants by email and automatically issue full refunds. \nIf you have questions about this course\, please contact the Field Institute by email at education@RMConservancy.org or by phone at 970-586-3262.

SUMMARY:Volunteer to Protect Native Ecosystems on May 30
DESCRIPTION:Spend the day helping preserve Rocky’s native plants by removing invasive plant species by hand!\n\n\n\n\nRocky Mountain National Park needs your help! Join us this summer for a hands-on day\, removing invasive plant species to help restore the park’s native vegetation. \nReady to join us?\n\nBuy Tickets on Eventbrite\nClick Here to Sign Up!\n\n \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Greenhouse Volunteer Day
DESCRIPTION:Spend the day supporting native plant restoration work by replanting young plants into larger containers in Rocky’s greenhouse!\n\n\n\n\nProject Description:\nWork alongside Rocky Mountain National Park greenhouse staff to transplant young nursery plants into larger containers for use in native plant restoration projects. Transplant various species of grasses and forbs that will help restore disturbances in meadows\, wetlands\, forests\, and the alpine tundra! Nursery transplants were propagated in Rocky’s greenhouse and sourced by seed collected within the park to preserve specific adaptations that allow plants to persist in Rocky’s climate. Get your hands dirty and be a part of preserving Rocky’s diverse landscape! \nAdvance registration is required. Please follow the link at the bottom of the page to sign up. \nWhat to Expect:\nTransplanting will occur at Rocky’s native plant greenhouse/nursery located at an elevation of around 8\,000 ft. Work is sedentary and repetitive as transplanting is done while sitting. SUMMARY:2026 Winter Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:Our Rocky Mountain Winter Speaker Series returns in 2026\, with rangers\, researchers\, and historians!\n\n\n\nRocky Mountain Conservancy and Rocky Mountain National Park are excited to announce that our Winter Speaker Series is back again for 2026\, and we hope you’ll join us! \nThis year our series begins with a family-friendly presentation on cryptids (Bigfoot? Jackalopes?)\, which promises to be a lot of fun! Later talks include a look at what makes the architecture of the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center so special\, and updates on critical ecological issues facing the park. \n  \nSunday\, April 26th: From Design to Digging In – Wetland Restoration and an Introduction to the Kawuneeche Valley Restoration Collaborative (KVRC) Projects\, presented by Isabel de Silva Shewell\, ecologist\, Rocky Mountain National Park  \nThe headwaters of the Colorado River flow through Kawuneeche Valley\, once a verdant wetland until intense browsing reduced tall willow cover by 98% since 1999\, degrading habitat\, driving out beavers\, and drying most ponds. Since 2020\, the Kawuneeche Valley Restoration Collaborative (KVRC) has launched restoration initiatives—including planting willows\, installing instream beaver mimicry structures\, and excluding ungulates with fencing—to rewet floodplains and recover ecosystem functions. \n  \nEach 1-hour presentation will begin at 2:00pm in the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center Auditorium\, located at 1000 US-36 in Estes Park\, CO. \nPresentations are free and open to the public. Registration is appreciated and helps us ensure adequate seating\, but is not required. \nClick Here to register via Eventbrite! \nQuestions? Email us at education@RMConservancy.org or call 970-586-3262.
