SUMMARY:Bettie Course: Via Ferrata
DESCRIPTION:Try something new and reach new heights with a great community of women!\n\n\n\nExperience climbing the Via Ferrata with a supportive and fun group of women! \nThe Via Ferrata is a unique experience that falls somewhere between scrambling and technical rock climbing\, akin to a ropes course up a cliff. While it is physically demanding\, the system of cables and ladders allows even non-experienced climbers to ascend the 600 foot tall cliff. All you need is good fitness and a passing ability to deal with heights. \nParticipants\, accompanied by KMAC guides\, are secured to the system of anchored steel cables as they ascend using natural rock features\, ladders\, and steel steps. While you ascend\, you’ll enjoy stunning vistas of Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding valley typically accessible only to rock climbers! \nWho: This program is intended for women ages 16 and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nProgram level & description: Moderate – This program is most appropriate for those with some hiking experience. Expect to hike about a mile to the base of the Via Ferrata. The Peregrine Arete begins in a rocky gully on the side of the cliff. It traverses in and quickly gains elevation and exposure as the ground drops away. By design\, the most physically demanding moves are at the very beginning to give an idea of what is to come. Participants then move into the “Hinterstoisser Traverse\,” a wildly exposed section that gets hearts racing. After a fun steeper section participants arrive at one of the best views in the world for a snack break. After a break\, participants will start the second half\, the Peregrine Arete. This half isn’t as physically challenging\, but it does offer amazing views in all directions as it follows the crest of the ridge\, as high above the valley as it gets\, all the way to the summit! No previous rock climbing experience is necessary to ascend the Via Ferrata. \nTransportation will be in a 15-passenger van with bench seats and a narrow aisle that requires stepping up to enter. \nUnfortunately\, due to limitations on the lanyard safety equipment that connects you to the Via Ferrata system\, we cannot accept guests over 265 lbs. \nWhen: Sunday\, June 14\, 2026 from 9:00am to 2:00pm \nWhere: Meet at the KMAC Office (1230 Big Thompson Ave\, Estes Park\, CO 80517). We will drive together in Conservancy vehicles to the trailhead. \nWhats Included: \n\nGuides\nHarness\nHelmet\nVia Ferrata Lanyard\n\nWhat to Bring: \n\nSmall backpack\nlunch\n2 liters of water\nRain jacket\nLayers for changing weather\nSunscreen\, sunglasses\, and hat\n\n  \n\n\n\n  \nRefund Policy: \nCancellations made more than 30 days prior to the start of the course are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made fewer than 30 days in advance are not eligible for a refund. \nOur programs proceed rain or shine\, and participants should be prepared for inclement weather. However\, should we decide to cancel a program due to unsafe weather or emergency conditions\, we will notify participants by email and automatically issue full refunds. \nIf you have questions about this course\, please contact the Field Institute by email at education@RMConservancy.org or by phone at 970-586-3262.

SUMMARY:Bettie Course: Bridal Veil Falls Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a women’s hike to Bridal Veil Falls! The hike will take you to a less traveled part of Rocky Mountain National Park. We will begin at Cow Creek Trailhead and hike past the historic McGraw Ranch. The trail follows Cow Creek\, giving you glimpses at other smaller cascades along the way to Bridal Veil. The first part of the trail passes through open fields full of wildflowers where elk are often seen. Eventually\, the trail heads into the woods\, where it begins to climb in elevation\, rewarding you with a stunning waterfall that drops out of a craggy cliff. \nDistance and Elevation Gain: This hike is about 6 miles with 1\,000 feet of elevation gain and loss. \nPlease note these hikes are meant to be an inclusive and fun way to get outside! We will be hiking at a pace that is comfortable for a large group. Everyone should feel like they can chat on the trail! This typically means a 1-1.5 mile per hour pace on the way up and a 1.5-2 mile per hour pace on the way down. The focus of these hikes is community building and connection and we intentionally move at a moderate pace. \nThe Conservancy provides transportation to and from the trailhead. Registration includes all Park fees and permits. \nWho: This program is intended for women ages 16 and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nWhen: Wednesday\, June 17th from 8:00am – 2:30pm. Ending time is approximate and depends on traffic conditions and the pace of the group. Please leave yourself some free time after the hike in case we get back later than expected. \nWhere: We will meet at the Estes Park Visitor Center (500 Big Thompson Ave\, Este Park\, CO) and travel together to the trailhead in Conservancy vehicles. Look for a large white van with Rocky Mountain Conservancy logos in the bus parking area of the lot (east side). \nWhat to Bring: \n\nOur 10 Essentials for Field Courses is a good place to start!\nBag lunch\nSun protection\nWarm layers (weather depending)\nWaterproof layer(s)\nWater (2 liters recommended)\nSturdy trail shoes or hiking boots\n\nWeather: \nRocky Mountain Conservancy reserves the right to change the program location due to trail and weather conditions at any time. \nOur programs proceed rain or shine. However\, if weather or road conditions become unsafe\, Rocky Mountain Conservancy will cancel the program. Participants will be notified by email and full refunds will be issued automatically for all participants. \nCancellations: \nIf your plans change and you are no longer able to join us\, please send an email to education@RMConservancy.org to let us know or cancel your registration through Eventbrite. We often have a waitlist\, and your cancellation allows someone else to join. \nRefunds will be automatically issued for cancellations made at least 7 days in advance. Cancellations made fewer than 7 days in advance are not eligible for refunds. \n

SUMMARY:Volunteer to Protect Native Ecosystems on June 17
DESCRIPTION:Rocky Mountain National Park needs your help!\nJoin us this summer for a hands-on day\, removing invasive plant species to help restore the park’s native vegetation. \nInvasive plants are a persistent threat in RMNP\, crowding out native species and disrupting the wildlife that depends on them for food and habitat. The most effective tool we have against them? People willing to get their hands dirty! Your physical effort directly translates into healthier ecosystems and biodiversity that will help protect the park for generations to come. \nAlongside park staff\, you’ll learn to identify invasive species and master proper removal techniques\, skills you can carry with you long after the day ends. Expect a full\, active day outdoors on varied terrain\, but know that every plant pulled is a genuine\, measurable difference made for the landscape you’re helping protect. \nThis is demanding\, rewarding work\, and it matters. Be part of the effort to preserve the natural beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park. Sign up today! \nThere is no fee to participate in this volunteer work day. \nWhat to Expect:\nMinimum age: 18 years \nTime: 9:00am – 3:00pm. Volunteers should plan to stay for the full duration of this event. \nParking/meeting location: Please meet in the outdoor plaza in front of the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. Volunteers will be driven into the park via shuttle vans. \nWork site: Sites to be determined based on conditions. \nNearest bathroom: Bathrooms may be inaccessible for most of the event period. Be prepared to answer nature’s call in nature. \nWhat to bring: Layers for rapidly changing weather\, rain gear\, sun protection (sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses)\, long sleeve shirt and long pants\, sturdy close-toed shoes\, lunch and snacks\, at least 2 liters of water per person\, gloves (if you prefer your own)\, and a day pack to hold everything. \nPhysical expectations: Manual removal of invasive species is moderately strenuous\, with the entire workday spent on-foot\, and potentially walking distances that can add up to several miles in montane meadows\, forests\, and other front country locations. Plant removal will utilize hand tools such as shovels and pruners to dig out plants and remove seed heads. Participants should expect to be out for the entire time in variable weather conditions\, from hot temperatures in direct sunlight to cold and windy conditions. Events may be cancelled or shortened if weather conditions become a risk to human health and safety. Please be prepared with a day pack containing everything you will need for the day. \nReady to join us?\n  \n\n\n \nQuestions? Please contact the park’s volunteer office at ROMO_volunteer@nps.gov or 970-586-1330.

SUMMARY:Volunteer to Protect Native Ecosystems on July 7
\nReady to join us?\n\n\n \nQuestions? Please contact the park’s volunteer office at ROMO_volunteer@nps.gov or 970-586-1330.

SUMMARY:Habitat Heroes Volunteer Day on August 13
DESCRIPTION:Be a hero in the battle against invasive species\, and help to preserve Rocky’s native plants!\n\n\n\n\nRocky Mountain National Park needs your help! Join us this summer for a hands-on day\, removing invasive plant species to help restore the park’s native vegetation. Please be prepared with a daypack containing everything you will need for the day. \n\n\nReady to join us?\n  \n\n\n \nQuestions? Please contact the park’s volunteer office at ROMO_volunteer@nps.gov or 970-586-1330.
