DESCRIPTION:Create community\, get outside and enjoy the beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park on this hike to Bierstadt Lake- just for women! \nThis hike is a great opportunity to meet other women who are looking to get outside too! \nThis hike takes you up the Bierstadt Moraine Trail to Bierstadt Lake. The views from the lakeshore are spectacular. You’ll be able to see several mountain peaks in the distance. This subalpine lake is ringed by a beautiful coniferous forest on all sides and is a great fall hike destination. We will make our way down the Bierstadt Lake trail and see some of the first color change in the aspen trees during the fall season. \nDistance and Elevation: This trail is approximately 4 miles long with 400 feet of elevation gain and 900 ft of elevation loss. \nThe Conservancy provides transportation to and from the trailhead. \nWho: This Bettie Course is offered to women ages 16 and up. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nWhen: Thursday\, September 17th from 9:00am – 2:30pm End time is approximate depending on traffic in the Park and group pace. SUMMARY:Guided Hike: The Loch - 2 spots left!
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hike to the Loch!\nOur adventure will begin from Glacier Gorge trailhead\, where we will have a steady incline to Alberta falls and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Then we will travel through the trees to reach the Loch\, a beautiful lake with trees and peaks surrounding the water. We’ll plan to take a lunch and snack break at the lake before heading back to the trailhead. \nDistance: 5.5 miles \nElevation gain and loss: 1\,000ft \nLevel: Moderate – These programs are most appropriate for those with some hiking experience. Participants should be comfortable navigating both maintained trails and unmaintained meadows or grassy areas. Prior experience hiking or walking above 8\,000 feet is recommended. This program is open to participants ages 16 and up. \nPlease note these hikes are meant to be an inclusive and fun way to get outside! We will be hiking at a pace that is comfortable for a large group. Everyone should feel like they can chat on the trail! This typically means a 1-1.5 mile per hour pace on the way up and a 1.5-2 mile per hour pace on the way down. The focus of these hikes is community building and connection and we intentionally move at a moderate pace. \nThe Conservancy provides transportation to and from the trailhead. DESCRIPTION:An introduction to stream ecology and fly-fishing\, just for women!\n\n\n\nAre you ready to get your feet wet? \nThis two-day course begins with an in-the-field introduction to stream ecology\, followed by an afternoon introduction to fly-fishing techniques. The goal of Day One is to provide a holistic understanding of waterways\, where to find fish\, and the essential gear and techniques to get started. On Day Two\, we’ll spend the day exploring different fly-fishing spots around Rocky Mountain National Park\, with lots of time to practice and get in-the-moment coaching and guidance to develop your skills. This course is taught by Sarah of Rambling Ruby Rose\, a local fly-fishing guide and longtime outdoor educator. \nWho: This Bettie Course is offered to women ages 16 and up. Participants below the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult participant. \nWhen: Saturday\, August 22\, 2026 from 9:00am to 3:00pm and Sunday\, August 23\, 2026 from 7:00am to 1:00pm \nWhere: We will meet at the Estes Park Visitor Center at 500 Big Thompson Ave in downtown Estes Park\, and travel together to various locations within Rocky Mountain National Park in Conservancy vehicles. \nProgram Level: Moderate – These programs are most appropriate for those with some hiking experience. Expect to travel 3 to 6 miles over the course of the program and to be on your feet for several hours at a time. Participants should be comfortable hiking off trail or on unmaintained trails\, and should be able to cross a stream unassisted. Transportation will be in a 15-passenger van with bench seats and a narrow aisle that requires stepping up to enter. Prior experience hiking or walking above 8\,000 feet is recommended. \nWhat to Bring: \n\nOur 10 Essentials for Field Courses is a good place to start!\nBag lunch each day.\nWhere the bugs are\, the fish are. Be prepared to deal with biting insects.\nWe will be in and around the water both days. Wear shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.\nAll fishing gear will be provided and gear rental is included in your registration fees. If you have your own gear\, you’re welcome to bring and use that.\n\nAll participants over age 16 must have a valid Colorado State Fishing License to participate. Please purchase your license before the course! \nYou can purchase a license online from CO Parks & Wildlife here: CO Parks & Wildlife Licenses \nLicenses can also be purchased in person from the following local Estes Park businesses: \n\nEstes Angler LLC\nEstes Park Mountain Shop\nKirk’s Mountain Adventures\nLake Estes Marina\n\nAll fly-fishing gear will be supplied. We will be hiking at a pace that is comfortable for a large group. Everyone should feel like they can chat on the trail! This typically means a 1-1.5 mile per hour pace on the way up and a 1.5-2 mile per hour pace on the way down. The focus of these hikes is community building and connection and we intentionally move at a moderate pace. \nThe Conservancy provides transportation to and from the trailhead. Registration includes all Park fees and permits. \nWho: This Bettie Course is offered to women ages 16 and up. At the summit\, you’ll see amazing panoramic views\, including one of the finest views of Longs Peak in the park. \nDistance and Elevation Gain: This hike is about 7.5 miles with 2\,400 feet of elevation gain and loss. \nPlease note these hikes are meant to be an inclusive and fun way to get outside! We will be hiking at a pace that is comfortable for a large group. Everyone should feel like they can chat on the trail! This typically means a 1-1.5 mile per hour pace on the way up and a 1.5-2 mile per hour pace on the way down. Participants should be comfortable navigating both maintained trails and unmaintained meadows or grassy areas. Prior experience hiking or walking above 8\,000 feet is recommended. This program is open to participants ages 16 and up. \nPlease note these hikes are meant to be an inclusive and fun way to get outside! We will be hiking at a pace that is comfortable for a large group. Everyone should feel like they can chat on the trail! This typically means a 1-1.5 mile per hour pace on the way up and a 1.5-2 mile per hour pace on the way down. The focus of these hikes is community building and connection and we intentionally move at a moderate pace. \nThe Conservancy provides transportation to and from the trailhead. Registration includes all Park fees and permits. \nWho: This program is intended for anyone ages 16 and up. SUMMARY:Bettie Course: Via Ferrata
DESCRIPTION:Try something new and reach new heights with a great community of women!\n\n\n\nExperience climbing the Via Ferrata with a supportive and fun group of women! \nThe Via Ferrata is a unique experience that falls somewhere between scrambling and technical rock climbing\, akin to a ropes course up a cliff. While it is physically demanding\, the system of cables and ladders allows even non-experienced climbers to ascend the 600 foot tall cliff. All you need is good fitness and a passing ability to deal with heights. \nParticipants\, accompanied by KMAC guides\, are secured to the system of anchored steel cables as they ascend using natural rock features\, ladders\, and steel steps. While you ascend\, you’ll enjoy stunning vistas of Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding valley typically accessible only to rock climbers! \nWho: This program is intended for women ages 16 and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nProgram level & description: Moderate – This program is most appropriate for those with some hiking experience. Expect to hike about a mile to the base of the Via Ferrata. The Peregrine Arete begins in a rocky gully on the side of the cliff. It traverses in and quickly gains elevation and exposure as the ground drops away. By design\, the most physically demanding moves are at the very beginning to give an idea of what is to come. Participants then move into the “Hinterstoisser Traverse\,” a wildly exposed section that gets hearts racing. After a fun steeper section participants arrive at one of the best views in the world for a snack break. After a break\, participants will start the second half\, the Peregrine Arete. This half isn’t as physically challenging\, but it does offer amazing views in all directions as it follows the crest of the ridge\, as high above the valley as it gets\, all the way to the summit! No previous rock climbing experience is necessary to ascend the Via Ferrata. \nTransportation will be in a 15-passenger van with bench seats and a narrow aisle that requires stepping up to enter. \nUnfortunately\, due to limitations on the lanyard safety equipment that connects you to the Via Ferrata system\, we cannot accept guests over 265 lbs. \nWhen: Sunday\, June 14\, 2026 from 9:00am to 2:00pm \nWhere: Meet at the KMAC Office (1230 Big Thompson Ave\, Estes Park\, CO 80517). SUMMARY:Guided Hike: Ouzel Falls
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a beautiful waterfall filled hike in Rocky Mountain National Park!\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a hike to Ouzel Falls from the Wild Basin Trailhead. This waterfall-packed trip starts from the Wild Basin Trailhead and closely follows North St. Vrain Creek past Copeland Falls and Calypso Cascades before reaching Ouzel Falls. Keep an eye out for blooming wildflowers and birds that call Wild Basin home.
