SUMMARY:Bettie Course: Bierstadt Lake Guided Hike - 1 spot left!
DESCRIPTION:Create community\, get outside and enjoy the beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park on this hike to Bierstadt Lake- just for women! \nThis hike is a great opportunity to meet other women who are looking to get outside too! \nThis hike takes you up the Bierstadt Moraine Trail to Bierstadt Lake. The views from the lakeshore are spectacular. You’ll be able to see several mountain peaks in the distance. This subalpine lake is ringed by a beautiful coniferous forest on all sides and is a great fall hike destination. We will make our way down the Bierstadt Lake trail and see some of the first color change in the aspen trees during the fall season. \nDistance and Elevation: This trail is approximately 4 miles long with 400 feet of elevation gain and 900 ft of elevation loss. \nThe Conservancy provides transportation to and from the trailhead. \nWho: This Bettie Course is offered to women ages 16 and up. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nWhen: Thursday\, September 17th from 9:00am – 2:30pm End time is approximate depending on traffic in the Park and group pace. Please do not schedule afternoon activities right after the hike. \nWhere: We will meet at the Estes Park Events Complex parking lot and travel together to into Rocky Mountain National Park in Conservancy vehicles. \nWhat to Bring: \nOur 10 Essentials for Field Courses is a good place to start!\nBag lunch\nWarm layers (weather depending)\nWaterproof layer(s)\nWater (2 liters recommended)\nSturdy tennis shoes or hiking boots \nWeather: \nRocky Mountain Conservancy reserves the right to change the program location due to trail and weather conditions at any time. \nOur programs proceed\, rain or shine. However\, if weather or road conditions become unsafe\, Rocky Mountain Conservancy will cancel the program. Participants will be notified by email and full refunds will be issued automatically for all participants. \nCancellations: \nIf your plans change and you are no longer able to join us\, please send an email to education@RMConservancy.org to let us know or cancel your registration through Eventbrite. We often have a waitlist\, and your cancellation allows someone else to join. \nRefunds will be automatically issued for cancellations made at least 7 days in advance. SUMMARY:Greenhouse Volunteer Day: Willow Up-potting
DESCRIPTION:Work alongside Rocky Mountain National Park greenhouse staff to up-pot willows in our plant nursery for future wetland restoration projects!\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Description: \nThe RMNP vegetation crew works in many ways to restore degraded landscapes – one of these ways is propagating and growing plants in our greenhouse and nursery which will be used in restoration projects throughout the park. For this volunteer day\, you will be helping plant willow stakes in “cone-tainers” so they can grow roots and thrive in their future habitat! \nDates (weather permitting): Thursday\, September 17\, 2026 or Wednesday\, September 23\, 2026. Choose your preferred date. \nTime: 8:30am – 3:30pm. Volunteers should plan to stay for the full time period. \nWhere to Meet: We will meet in the outdoor plaza in front of Beaver Meadows Visitor Center. From there we will walk to the greenhouse about ¼ mile away down a paved path on a gentle to moderate hillside. The greenhouse is located at an elevation of around 7\,600 ft. \nWhat to Expect: \nTasks include using hand clippers to cut willows into stakes\, planting stakes in soil\, loading/moving wheelbarrows of soil\, and lifting heavy trays. These tasks will be divided among volunteers and staff – you will not have to do them all. \nExpect the unexpected with fall weather in the mountains – it could be sunny\, windy\, hot\, cold\, snowing\, and/or raining in the same day\, so prepare accordingly. \nWater will be available onsite for refills. Restrooms are a short walk away in the natural resources building. \nWhat’s Provided: Work gloves\, sunscreen\, water for refills\, electrolyte mix\, kneeling pads \nWhat to Bring: Layers\, rain gear\, sun protection (sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses)\, gloves (if you prefer your own)\, day pack\, bag lunch and snacks\, water. \nMinimum age: 18 years \n\n\nReady to sign up?\n\n\n \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Fall Color Elk Tours
DESCRIPTION:Come along with us for golden aspens and the drama of the elk rut!\nIt’s impossible to ignore the magic of fall in the Rockies! The fall rut is a spectacular display of elk mating behavior featuring bugling\, posturing\, and herding displays by the bulls. Paired with the reds and golds of fall foliage\, you can view this extraordinary from the comfort of our 14-passenger minibus. Our knowledgeable guides will discuss elk ecology\, interpret elk behavior\, and share elk artifacts such as antlers and hides for participants to see and touch. \nThis tour is approximately 2.5 hours in length and is suitable for all ages. We will make several stops\, depending on where elk are gathering\, and participants will be able to disembark at each stop. Some stops may include a short walk over unpaved ground to maximize viewing opportunities. \nADA accessible transportation is available! Please select the ADA accessible ticket at checkout for this option. \nAll required park entrance fees and permits are included in your registration. \nWhen: Most Thursdays\, Fridays\, and Saturdays in September and early October\, departing at 3:30pm. Approximate return time is 6:00pm.
